UPDATE 2: Marine Terrace MRT Station is just beside Seventy St Patrick!

On 15 August 2014, LTA finally unveiled the locations of the stations that will comprise the new Eastern Region Line. They also announced that it will be joined to the Thomson Line, and so renamed to the Thomson East Coast Line (TEL). Here is a map of the whole line:

The best part of this news is that one of the stations on this line, the Marine Terrace station, will be right in front of Seventy St Patrick! The nearest entrance looks to be no more than 100m away, near St Patrick’s School.

This eastern part of the TEL will have 9 stations, stretching from Sungei Bedok to Tanjong Rhu. It will then connect northwards to the 22 stations of the northern stretch that were announced earlier under the Thomson Line.

The 13km eastern stretch will run through Tanjong Rhu, Katong Park, Amber, Marine Parade, Marine Terrace, Siglap, Bayshore, Bedok South & Sungei Bedok. The first 7 stations, from Tanjong Rhu to Bayshore, is expected to be completed by 2023.

And as we all know by now, the station will be embedded so deep underground, that residents of Seventy St Patrick won’t feel or hear any passing trains at all! Merely enjoy the convenience.
